Reflections of 2022
I hope everyone had a terrific Christmas and New Year’s celebration! It’s hard to believe we are in 2023 already. As I reflect back on 2022, there were some challenges that it brought, but also some incredible opportunities and inspirational events. For this week’s story, I would like to give you three events that helped me realize how lucky I am.
- Crusade Against Cancer
This event continues to grow bigger each year. This year we had the largest number of participants we have ever had. We also had several new sponsors as well. I want to thank the amazing students from Hillcrest, Bonneville, and Skyline High Schools for all their help. They helped put race bags together, promoted the race, and signed up several teams. Because of their support, we were able to provide over $5,000 to the families each school nominated. I am so optimistic for the event this year. I need to thank all of the volunteers that help me each year put this together. There are not enough words that can express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for everything you do.
- Adopt-A-Family for Christmas
This is an event I look forward to each year. We ended up helping 13 families, which is over double the number of families we were able to help last year. It was so much fun going shopping for them, and again I need to thank all the amazing people who volunteered to help. Earlier in the year, we helped a 32 year old mom that has cancer. She has five young kids with ages from 11 years old to18 months. Our family decided we wanted to help them with Christmas. It was so fun going together as a family to shop for them. She and her husband came over to the house to pick up the presents, and we had a really nice talk with them. They were so grateful, and we told them how generous the community is and how much satisfaction and fulfillment it gave us. After Christmas, she sent a video of the kids walking into the living room on Christmas morning. To watch them light up with joy and delight made me cry tears of happiness. There are no words that can describe the warmth and love that filled my soul watching the video. I want to thank this generous community again for making this possible for me. None of this would happen without your donations and support.
- My Anniversary
By far the greatest joy and happiness I had was spending my first year as Kristi’s husband. She has been so supportive of me with everything I do, and has always been there to help me when I have had challenges and hurdles to overcome. She is the kindest and most compassionate person, and is always doing everything she can to help anyone in need. Anytime she hears of someone facing a challenge, her first response is always finding some way to help them out. She is such a great example of support and kindness and makes me want to do everything I can to be as compassionate and caring as her. Kristi, thank you for a great year and I am looking forward to our life together.
I wish you all the best for this year and thank you for your friendship and support. Thanks for reading.
