Another Rewarding Week
This week we were able to enjoy an amazing experience due to the generosity of this amazing community. To give you the proper details of this experience, I will need to take you back a few years to when this tradition started.
I had a booth at the Shilo convention center when a young lady from Texas Roadhouse came over and introduced herself to me. Her name was Bailey Thorne, and she was in charge of Marketing. She wanted to know more about the Foundation and what we did. I explained our mission and we had a really nice conversation. She told me she wanted to check and see if there was anything Texas Roadhouse could do to support the Foundation. I told her that would be great and thanked her.
A few months had passed, and I hadn’t thought anymore about our conversation until one of my friends were at Texas Roadhouse and said they were supporting the Foundation. They sent a picture of the flyer that was displayed at their table asking for support for the Shannon Wilker Foundation. The next day I went to Texas Roadhouse and talked with Bailey. All the funds they raised went into gift cards to Texas Roadhouse.
When I came in to pick up the cards from Bailey, there were so many I wasn’t sure how to handle it. I knew I could give some to cancer patients but had so many more left over. It immediately occurred to me that I should give the rest to the staff at Teton Cancer Institute to thank them for all they do.
This week Kristi and I were able to take the cards to Teton Cancer Institute and give one to all of the staff. It was an incredibly gratifying and satisfying experience to see the gratitude and appreciation from everyone. It is so nice to be able to let them know how much we appreciate everything they do for our community and wish them a Merry Christmas. We want to thank Bailey Thorne, the staff at Texas Roadhouse, and everyone who donated for making this possible. It is a fulfilling reward that money could never buy.
I hope you are all having a great week and thanks for reading.
