The Blessings of Community
Before I begin to talk about our amazing community, I want to thank Berna Deanne’s family, and her community for the sweet, and beautiful tribute to her on Wednesday. It was so very heartwarming. I especially want to thank her daughter Melanie for the life sketch. She did an amazing job and it brought so many smiles and thoughts of love to everyone. It filled my heart with the blessings only family bonds can give you. I want to thank my family for the love, compassion, and strength they have given me in my life.
To begin with, I need to thank LoRita Kahn for her fundraiser Friday night. She has been doing these fundraisers every year for the Foundation. This year she dedicated all the funds to Eric Adams. He is the 17 year-old young man I wrote about a few weeks ago. She has been such a blessing for the Foundation and a big reason for its success and growth.
Last week, Amy from Pick Me Up Drinks called me and told me they would be doing their monthly fundraiser for the Foundation. Bailey from Texas Roadhouse also called me to tell me they would be doing their fundraiser as well and asked me to come and speak with the staff and tell them about the Foundation. I have also had three different businesses call me and tell me they are going to do fundraisers for breast cancer this month. They told me they wanted to donate the funds to the Foundation, because someone had explained the mission of the Foundation, and how all the funds go directly to local cancer patients and their families. These are only a couple of businesses that are doing fundraisers this month for the Foundation.
The fantastic growth of the Foundation would not be possible without this amazing, charitable, and generous community. I can’t believe how much it has grown over the last few years. I don’t want to leave anyone out, so next week’s story will be about some of the other groups that are helping the Foundation. I want to thank all of you for your support and thanks for reading.
Next week: More of the Same Gratitude & Appreciation
P.S. I am going to miss reading this to Berna Deanne today.
