Okay, let’s start with the game itself. I think it’s safe to say this was one of the most boring Super Bowl games to watch. The best description was posted on Facebook. “If I wanted to watch grown men unable to score for three hours, I’d just go to the bar with my buddies.”
Next there were the commercials. In the past, Bud Light has had some really good commercials, but this year I didn’t care for any of them. Especially the one talking about corn syrup. Next time do some research. The issue is with high fructose corn syrup, not the corn syrup they only use in the process and isn’t an ingredient in the final product. Way to throw the American corn farmer under the bus. Two of my favorites were the Hyundai ad with Jason Bateman as the elevator operator, and the T-Mobile ad “I’m here for you.” My absolute favorite was the Google “One Billion Words” ad. It addressed the issue that there are divisive words used every day, but the most translated words are “Hello, how are you?” In a time when there are people trying to keep our world divided, it was great to see an ad that confirms my point that the majority of our world is always there to help take care of anyone in their community that needs help.
But the best part happened before the game even started. The singing duo Chloe & Hallie did a fantastic job singing America The Beautiful. It was breathtaking. And Gladys Knight was simply amazing singing the National Anthem. When she agreed to sing the National Anthem, she was pressured by some groups not to do it because of the Colin Kaepernick situation. I admire her attitude and her resolve to stand up for her beliefs. To me it was a great example of how fortunate we are to live in the country we do. And how grateful we need to be to the fine men and women of our armed forces that provide us this freedom every day. I am very thankful for the blessings of family and friends and the guidance from my Angel Shannon. I will always LOVE AND MISS YOU sweetheart.
I hope everyone had a great Super Bowl weekend, and made some special memories with your family and friends.
Next week: The Arizona Trip
P.S. Speaking of NFL teams that can’t score, how about my RAIDERS!
